Abstract
Biometric technologies, which bring ethical debates along, are among the indispensable and constantly developing digital technologies of recent years. The primary goals of these technologies are to seek security control. The technological equipment developed for these reasons has become indispensable for public spaces, government buildings and private companies. It is seen that secondary objectives such as creating visual data banks that record people have begun to be expressed over time, among the objectives of security measures developed based on face recognition through digital cameras, sensors and various software developed. Such goals also point to a dystopian future at some points. The feeling of anxiety created by this perception; emerge as artistic responses developed by various artists and designers. Designers who aim to develop techniques for mixing machine vision algorithms against surveillance and archiving also seem to have created an oppositional language. On the other hand, these opposition actions also include a spontaneous feedback feature for software companies. Thus, software companies turn these projects into their own advantages in order to detect system vulnerabilities.
In this context, artistic works that emerged in interdisciplinary forms such as various body and face painting techniques, designs based on hair, make-up and accessory use, developed by artists and designers against surveillance, ill be discussed within the scope of the study. be an example. As a result, these technologies, which are read from a positive place such as security, on the other hand, from an extremely negative place such as a violation of privacy, will be discussed with contrasting discussions developed through artistic examples.
