The primary goals of these technologies are to seek security control. The technological equipment developed for these reasons has become indispensable for public spaces, government buildings and private companies. It is seen that secondary objectives such as creating visual data banks that record people have begun to be expressed over time, among the objectives of security measures developed based on face recognition through digital cameras, sensors and various software developed. Such goals also point to a dystopian future at some points. The feeling of anxiety created by this perception; emerge as artistic responses developed by various artists and designers. Designers who aim to develop techniques for mixing machine vision algorithms against surveillance and archiving also seem to have created an oppositional language. On the other hand, these opposition actions also include a spontaneous feedback feature for software companies. Thus, software companies turn these projects into their own advantages in order to detect system vulnerabilities.
In this context, artistic works that emerged in interdisciplinary forms such as various body and face painting techniques, designs based on hair, make-up and accessory use, developed by artists and designers against surveillance, ill be discussed within the scope of the study. be an example. As a result, these technologies, which are read from a positive place such as security, on the other hand, from an extremely negative place such as a violation of privacy, will be discussed with contrasting discussions developed through artistic examples.
2023-02-05T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2023 Holistence Publicationshttps://journals.gen.tr/index.php/arts/article/view/1971An investigation on “conceptualism” in new media art2023-01-23T14:16:22+03:00Muhammed Emir Fidanemirfidan@yahoo.com
The subject of this study is conceptual art and its relationship with new media. While the work created by the artist is a part of society, it also shapes the social culture with the effect of the changing understanding of art in the historical process. The aim of this research is to understand art, society, and artist relations by systematically evaluating art from a historical perspective; is to obtain data on the future projection of art. Artworks, which are the subject of evaluation and contain concrete retrospective information, provide information about how art will be in the future. In this context, first, the effect of the technological change experienced at the beginning of the 20th century on modern art was investigated. In addition, information is given about the relationship of art with social changes in the 20th century, with analyzes made on artists such as Monet, who opened the door for the interpretability of the work of art, Matisse, who expressed art as a way of life, Cezanne, who was under the influence of mechanization, and Picasso, who interpreted social problems. In the continuation of the article, with the emergence of the concept of abstract art, the transformation of art and the artist in the 20th century is discussed through Miro and Marcel Duchamp. With this transformation, the work of art breaking away from objective ties and focusing on the idea, and its conceptualization, gives information about how the art of the 21st century will be. In line with the systematic evaluations, it is seen that art and artists, under the influence of multiculturalism and globalization brought about by digitalization, are/will be in constant transformation. Thus, it is concluded that accessibility to art will become easier, interest in new geographies will increase, and art will continue to exist in new forms, independently of the artist, by becoming anonymized and reflecting society and culture in the future.
2023-02-05T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2023 Holistence Publicationshttps://journals.gen.tr/index.php/arts/article/view/1968Transformation of technology and art: Digital art2023-01-23T14:18:41+03:00Özlem Vargünozlem.vargun@yeniyuzyil.edu.tr
The progress in information and communication technologies creates a significant social transformation. Nowadays, as it
becomes easier to reach online video games, video games have gained a universal structure. Video game player
groups can exchange ideas both with the game itself as a product and between individuals belonging to different
societies. As a result of this, as the consumer range of video games diversifies, there is an enrichment of the communication resource between the game and the user in terms of subject and processing. The ability of video games to appeal to various classes and audiences makes it possible to find traces of social structuring within the content presented. In this study, the development of the concept of game and the importance of video games today will be discussed, and the place and universal structure of such games in society will be examined. Afterwards, Franz
Oppenheimer’s theory of the State will be discussed and the subject of social structuring will be emphasized. In
the light of the data obtained, the analysis of the presentation of social structuring under the influence of the State theory in “Detroit: Become Human”, will be carried out. Within the scope of the research, it is aimed to encounter the traces of the social structuring related to the State theory through the sample given. Furthermore, archiving the data of the player’s choices during the game provides concrete data for the player’s perspective. Therefore, this research is important not only for the content analysis, but also for the analysis of the preferences of the individual in his own social structure. According to the results of the content analysis carried out in terms of social structure, it has been understood that one of the determining elements of the game content is the struggle of the proletariat against the ruling class, through the story flow of the character of Marcus. In addition to the content, it has been determined that providing the player with the opportunity to choose with the interactive gameplay feature instills thinking and decision-making towards the theory of “State” and social structure.
2023-02-05T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2023 Holistence Publicationshttps://journals.gen.tr/index.php/arts/article/view/1949The role and analysis of photographic images in communication in mass 2023-01-23T19:40:42+03:00Erkan Çiçekfesiherkan@gmail.com
When we examine all definitions; Communication is information, emotion, thought between two or more people or groups.
