His studies, which are related to many disciplines, also interact with each other. There are also discourses based on illusions in a universe where reality is lost and hyperreality is experienced. The concept of trompe-l'œil, which he refers to as illusions, is a technique used especially in the field of painting as a realistic-looking optical illusion. What Baudrillard means by trompe-l'œil produced as real is the creation of a confusion of perception regarding the existence of the non-existent. In this context, it was felt necessary to discuss the architect Jean Nouvel, who is thought to have frequently used the trompe-l'œil technique and who interacted with Baudrillard in the discipline of architecture. The aim of the study is to evaluate trompe-l'œil, an optical illusion technique, and its use in the field of architecture through Nouvel architecture. In addition, what can be done using the trompe-l'œil technique to create the desired perception in architecture is explained with examples. The sample of the study consists of Jean Nouvel's buildings. The structures within the scope of the study were discussed through the texts in which Jean Nouvel described the structures. Because it is necessary to directly obtain the architect's thoughts about the design and to make analysis by obtaining clear information. The examples selected from Nouvel's designs were chosen from those thought to be trompe-l'œil, using natural light and glass surfaces. As a result, natural light and glass surfaces are important in Nouvel's designs. It can be said that the Cartier Foundation structure is a direct application of trompe-l'œil.
2024-04-30T00:00:00+03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Holistence Publications https://journals.gen.tr/index.php/arts/article/view/2370 Augmented reality in routing design: design proposal for Ankara Kızılay subway underpasses 2024-03-24T16:19:04+03:00 Çağhan Ağca g.cghn.agca@gmail.com Armağan Gökçearslan armagangokce778@gmail.com
Today, with the increasing population and fast pace of life, the problem of the study is that pedestrians using the Kızılay metro station cannot find the correct and quick way to enter and exit and often exit from different points. The general purpose of the research is to create a directional design with a striking and aesthetic appearance that will facilitate the daily life of passengers and to present memorable information about the Red Crescent in the center of Ankara by supporting it with augmented reality technology. Since qualitative research method and literature review will be used in the article, document analysis technique will be used. In the prepared article, the problem situation, the purpose of the study, the importance of the research and definitions were emphasized, and then design, graphic design, environmental graphic design, orientation design and its elements were discussed. In addition, underpass routing designs used abroad and throughout Turkey were examined through examples, and this technology was tried to be explained by mentioning the definition and types of augmented reality, platforms and usage areas. As the application project of the research, 12 directional designs were prepared and the designs prepared for Sakarya Street, Kızılay Shopping Center and Emek İş Hanı from Ankara Kızılay metro station underpass entrance and exit points were examined in detail. As a continuation of the application project and in support of the directional designs, informative video studies were carried out for the entrance and exit points of Sakarya Street, Emek İş Hanı and Kızılay AVM. Videos supporting the prepared guidance designs; Supported by augmented reality technology, passengers are informed, they experience a memorable and different visual experience, and indirect advertising of shopping points in the surrounding area is ensured.
2024-05-05T00:00:00+03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Holistence Publications https://journals.gen.tr/index.php/arts/article/view/2381 An alternative printing method in ceramic art: Photolithography transfer technique and application possibilities 2024-04-14T00:27:33+03:00 Sinan Avinal sinan.avinal@msgsu.edu.tr
Lithography printing technique has been frequently preferred in the production or duplication of artistic and commercial works for many years thanks to its ease of production and economy. Although the development of digital printing technology in recent years has reduced the commercial use of lithography, it continues to be an important production method for artists.

The lithography technique, which is a type of chemical printing, is considered to be the origin of photolithography, which was developed to be applied on ceramic bodies due to the same basic principles. This technique, which is called "Photolithography" due to its use in transferring photographic images to ceramic surfaces, has not yet become widespread enough in art ceramics despite its unique texture and relatively easy application compared to many printing methods. In this study, photolithography technique applications were carried out by considering various variables such as ceramic mason stains and colouring oxides. The results of the experiments were evaluated and the applicability of the photolithography technique on art ceramics surfaces was revealed.
2024-05-05T00:00:00+03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Holistence Publications https://journals.gen.tr/index.php/arts/article/view/2387 The narrative becomes theatrical 2024-03-21T14:45:24+03:00 Sibel Erdenk sibelerdenk@gmail.com Melike Durak Aras melike.durak@yahoo.com
Theatre, especially in the West, has been approached from a mimetic (representational) perspective rather than a diegetic (narrative) perspective, and diegesis (narrative) has been left outside the boundaries of the art of theatre since Aristotle’s Poetics. In the process that has been going on since the 20th century, some searches to capture a live experience, especially in the stage-viewing area and actor-audience relations, began to focus on the issue of narrative in theatre. Brecht’s epic theatre theory, which includes the narrative in which he reopens the storytelling line and the periodic transformation of the narrative that is called back to the stage with Lehmann’s postdramatic conceptualization, radically took both theatre and performance beyond their classical definitions in theatre history. The main phenomenon that determines the characteristic of narrative in theatre lies somewhere beyond its relationship, in the fact that it destroys the aesthetic superiority of the dramatic structure and establishes an alternative, together with the economic and social conditions of the new age. This study aims to illustrate the course of the ‘narrative’ at important turning points such as the Ancient, Epic and Postdramatic periods through narrative strategies. Method: In this study, the method of grading the transfer from theory to practice for the use of narrative in theatre practices was taken as a methodological basis. Conclusion: It is seen that the art of our age, which defines life as an experience, replaces the narrative at the center. It seems that this experience stems from the popular trend of narrative stories in the application field of theatre, as well as the search for a new word, a new contact to be established with the audience.
2024-05-05T00:00:00+03:00 Copyright (c) 2024 Holistence Publications
