Augmented reality in routing design: design proposal for Ankara Kızılay subway underpasses
Abstract
Today, with the increasing population and fast pace of life, the problem of the study is that pedestrians using the Kızılay metro station cannot find the correct and quick way to enter and exit and often exit from different points. The general purpose of the research is to create a directional design with a striking and aesthetic appearance that will facilitate the daily life of passengers and to present memorable information about the Red Crescent in the center of Ankara by supporting it with augmented reality technology. Since qualitative research method and literature review will be used in the article, document analysis technique will be used. In the prepared article, the problem situation, the purpose of the study, the importance of the research and definitions were emphasized, and then design, graphic design, environmental graphic design, orientation design and its elements were discussed. In addition, underpass routing designs used abroad and throughout Turkey were examined through examples, and this technology was tried to be explained by mentioning the definition and types of augmented reality, platforms and usage areas. As the application project of the research, 12 directional designs were prepared and the designs prepared for Sakarya Street, Kızılay Shopping Center and Emek İş Hanı from Ankara Kızılay metro station underpass entrance and exit points were examined in detail. As a continuation of the application project and in support of the directional designs, informative video studies were carried out for the entrance and exit points of Sakarya Street, Emek İş Hanı and Kızılay AVM. Videos supporting the prepared guidance designs; Supported by augmented reality technology, passengers are informed, they experience a memorable and different visual experience, and indirect advertising of shopping points in the surrounding area is ensured.
