Health Sciences Quarterly (Health Sci. Q.) publishes all articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits reuse, distribution, reproduction, adaptation, and redistribution in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author(s), the source is cited, a link to the license is provided, and any changes made are clearly indicated.

Copyright Retention

Authors retain the copyright of their published works without restriction. Upon publication, authors grant Health Sciences Quarterly the right of first publication and the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, archive, preserve, and disseminate the work under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

Copyright Transfer Form

The journal does not require a separate copyright transfer form. Authors retain copyright of their published work and grant Health Sciences Quarterly the right of first publication under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0).

License and Reuse Rights

Under the CC BY 4.0 License, users are permitted to:

• Share — copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format;
• Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial use.

These rights are granted provided that proper attribution is given to the original author(s), the article title, the journal, the DOI, and the publisher where applicable. Users must also provide a link to the CC BY 4.0 license and indicate whether changes were made.

Author Rights

Authors retain broad rights to use and share their own work. Authors may:

• Reuse their own published work in future publications, books, theses, presentations, reports, lectures, and teaching materials, provided that the original publication is properly cited.
• Share the preprint, accepted manuscript, and final published version of the article on personal websites, institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, academic networks, or other open access platforms.
• Deposit the published version immediately after publication, with full bibliographic citation and DOI link to the journal version.
• Use the article for academic, educational, and non-commercial professional purposes without requesting additional permission from the journal.

Self-Archiving Policy

Authors may freely archive preprint, accepted manuscript, and final published versions of their manuscripts on personal websites, institutional repositories, disciplinary repositories, funder repositories, or other open access platforms. When depositing the published version, authors should provide the full citation and DOI link to the version of record published in Health Sciences Quarterly.

Third-Party Material and Permissions

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce, adapt, translate, or reuse any third-party material that is not covered by the authors’ own copyright or by a license permitting reuse. This may include, but is not limited to, figures, tables, photographs, clinical images, maps, scales, questionnaires, instruments, data sets, software outputs, diagrams, or previously published material.

All third-party materials must be properly credited in the manuscript. If the reused material is subject to a different license or specific permission conditions, authors must comply with those terms. A permissions statement must be provided in the Title Page / Cover Page. If no third-party material requiring permission is used, authors should state “Permissions: Not applicable.”

Patient, Participant and Image Permissions

For case reports, clinical images, patient photographs, identifiable medical information, or participant-related material, authors must ensure that privacy and confidentiality are protected. Identifying information must be removed or anonymised unless explicit consent for disclosure has been obtained. Where required, consent for publication must be documented and declared in the Title Page / Cover Page.

Publisher’s Rights and Responsibilities

While authors retain copyright, Health Sciences Quarterly is responsible for publishing, distributing, archiving, preserving, and disseminating the version of record. The journal supports long-term accessibility through digital preservation practices, DOI registration, metadata distribution, and indexing or discoverability services where applicable.

The journal assigns Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to published articles through Crossref and maintains bibliographic metadata to support citation, discoverability, and scholarly communication.

Ethical and Legal Responsibilities

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their manuscript complies with copyright law, licensing requirements, research ethics, patient and participant privacy, data protection principles, and permission requirements for third-party material. The journal follows the ethical standards of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and relevant recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) where applicable.

Any concerns regarding copyright infringement, misuse of third-party material, undisclosed permissions, plagiarism, duplicate publication, or ethical misconduct may be investigated in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics policies.

When citing an article published in Health Sciences Quarterly, readers and authors should use the full bibliographic details and the official DOI of the article.
