HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL AWARENESS (NİĞDE'S HISTORY AND CULTURE ANTS-2 PROJECT EXAMPLE
Abstract
The aim of this study is to increase the awareness of the students in public secondary schools against historical places and cultural artifacts, to develop awareness of conservation, to better understand the historical structures in the environment they live in, to create awareness about the historical places in their cities and to establish a history-space relationship. The target group of the project is the secondary school students studying in public schools in the 2017-2018 academic year. Pre-test to measure the students' readiness at the beginning of the project and their knowledge on the historical and cultural works of Niğde; At the end of the project, the final test was applied to the students to measure the information obtained from the project. Moreover, the students evaluated the project with ler End of Day Assessment enc activities and science diaries. In the light of the data obtained; that students' level of knowledge and awareness about the historical and cultural works, geographic and human characteristics of Niğde city increased positively; they enjoyed a positive attitude towards art, history, culture and their fields, and developed a positive attitude towards the preservation of historical monuments and cultural assets.
