Publication Policy

Journal Profile: Journal of Awareness (J. Aware.) is an international, double-blind peer-reviewed, Diamond Open Access journal. The journal accepts submissions in English and Turkish and follows a continuous publication model.

Aim and Scope

The journal publishes high-quality theoretical, empirical, review, and interdisciplinary studies that contribute to individual, social, cultural, and scientific awareness in the humanities and social sciences. For detailed thematic coverage, please see the About / Focus and Scope page.

Article Processing Charges and Publication Fees

Journal of Awareness is a Diamond Open Access journal. The journal does not charge authors or readers any fees.

There are no submission fees, editorial processing fees, peer-review fees, article processing charges (APCs), acceptance fees, page charges, colour charges, or any other publication-related fees.

Peer Review Policy

All submissions undergo an initial editorial screening for aim and scope, originality, academic quality, language quality, ethical compliance, and similarity. Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to at least two independent reviewers under a double-blind peer-review process.

Editorial decisions are based on academic merit, reviewer reports, ethical compliance, originality, methodological quality, and relevance to the journal's aim and scope. Confidentiality is maintained throughout the review process. Editors and reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest and recuse themselves when necessary.

Open Access Model

Journal of Awareness provides immediate open access to all published content with no embargo. Articles are freely available to readers without subscription, registration, or access fees. For licensing and reuse rights, please see the Copyright & Licensing and Open Access Policy pages.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their works. Upon publication, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and make the article permanently available under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). Plagiarism Screening and Research Integrity

All submissions are screened for similarity using iThenticate or other appropriate similarity-checking tools. Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, citation manipulation, ghost authorship, honorary authorship, and salami slicing are considered ethical violations and may result in rejection, correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with publication ethics principles.

Data Availability and Transparency

• Authors are responsible for the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the data, methods, analysis, findings, and conclusions presented in their manuscripts.
• Editors or reviewers may request underlying data, materials, or analysis files where necessary for evaluation.
• Where appropriate and ethically possible, authors are encouraged to share data, materials, and analysis codes in open repositories with proper documentation and citation.
• Data sharing must comply with ethical approvals, informed consent, confidentiality requirements, privacy regulations, and legal or contractual restrictions.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

Minor errors that do not affect the main findings may be addressed through corrections, errata, or corrigenda. In cases involving serious ethical concerns, unreliable findings, plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, or other forms of research misconduct, the journal may publish a correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with COPE Core Practices. Conflicts of Interest

Authors, editors, reviewers, and editorial staff must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, or academic conflicts of interest that may influence, or be perceived to influence, the evaluation or publication of a manuscript.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Use

Authors must disclose any use of artificial intelligence tools or large language models in the preparation of manuscripts, including writing assistance, language editing, coding support, data processing, or reference checking. AI tools must not be listed as authors. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, citations, data, analysis, findings, and conclusions of their manuscripts. The journal does not use AI tools to make editorial decisions.

Archiving and Indexing

Archiving: Long-term digital preservation is provided through the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN), which is integrated with Open Journal Systems. The journal also maintains secure backups of published articles and metadata. Details are available on the Archiving Policy page.
