THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE DRIVERS OFFENSIVE BEHAVIOR IN THE TRAFFIC: CASE OF ÇANAKKALE
Abstract
Traffic accidents are usually happens with reasons connected driver and vehicle, weather conditions, road and environment features. Analyses made on traffic accidents indicates that, main proportion of the accidents derive from drivers’ behaviors. In this study the weight of drivers’ behaviors in traffic on displaying aggressive behavior was examined. The questionnaire technique employed to obtain the data. In this context, the data from 214 drivers obtained and analyzed. Taking risk, enlightenment, straining, and aggression dimensions are the scale of the questionnaire form. The relationship between latent variables examined by employing Structural Equation Modelling (SEM). The model specified that increase on drivers' knowledge about traffic rules cause decrease on seeking excitement and risky behaviours. Increases ön drivers seeking excitement on traffic and behaviours of taking risk cause increase on aggressive behaviours to the other drivers and stakeholders. The another finding is that when the seeking excitement on traffic ıncreases, adapting to the trafic rules on compulsory cases decreases and risky behaviours ıncreases. It investigated that, when the behaviors of taking risk and searching excitement increases, the behavior of aggression increasing too.
