Human’s knowing activity takes place on three main knowledge layers. These are senses,
imagination and mind. As a knowledge category beautiful is a subject of envisagement as much as
senses. Baumgarten, who contributed to philosophy by introducing esthetics as a discipline,
differentiate knowledge to categories that are reached by senses and mind. Esthetich truth can be
reached by sensory knowledge, objective truth can be reached by reason. While Baumgarten
differentiating objective truth and esthetic truth, he asserts that objective truth is superior to esthetic
truth. After Baumgarten, horizen in general, esthetic horizon in special is not only a part of the
envisioned space, it becomes prominent as envisagement itself. In this study, the development of the
horizon as a space in art history we will be touched, and the boundaries or limits and limitlessness of
the horizon will be discussed.
