AKSARAY WOOD WORKING AND CARVING ART
Abstract
Wood as a building material since prehistoric times; its durability, its heat and its texture. There have been many changes and developments in the use of this material over time. Accordingly, the traditional woodwork in Turkey is shaped by many cultural interaction and exchange.
The wood art which has been held in Aksaray for many years and continues in the master-apprentice relationship method continues to this day. Especially in recent times, the art of miniature mosques and tombs with more interest and demand for wood art preserves its importance. In the wood art, in which the mimberin was made before, today, technology was used in this art field and hand labor was replaced by machines.
In this study, information was given about the art of wood, construction stages and current situation in Aksaray.
