PALEOGEOGRAPHICAL RESEARCH AROUND THE KAŞ AND GEOARCHAEOLOGICAL PROBLEMS OF KYANEAI-AVŞAR HILL ANCIENT SETTLEMENTS
Abstract
Teke peninsula is known as Lycia region in ancient times. Mid-south of the peninsula is known as "Central Lycia" and is a karstic plateau area at medium height. In Kyaneai, one of the major cities of Lycia, and Avşar Hill settlements in the south west, the water problem, which is based on the climate and lithological characteristics of the region, has been experienced in ancient times as it is today. With our Paleogeography and geoarchaeological investigations using core drilling method ıt has been researched that how these ancient settlements solve water problems. Similarly, some archaeological questions in Kyaneai and its vicinity have been searched.
