Abstract

This study focuses on the contributions of Talip Apaydın, one of the original names of Turkish literature, to children's literature and especially the educational messages in his works. While Apaydın conveyed the realities of rural life and people's problems to children, he also emphasized the importance of education to them. In the study, five stories and a children's novel in a storybook written by Apaydın for children were examined to determine the author's messages to children and his understanding of education. The document review method, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The obtained data was analyzed with the descriptive analysis technique. According to the results of the study, education in Apaydın's children's literature works is not limited to the school environment but means learning and development in every area of life. It was determined that the author generally gave messages themed around love, personal development, love of the country, Anatolian culture and social order in these works. In addition, through these works, the belief that children can reach a better future with education despite the difficulties in rural areas is emphasized.
