Abstract

The goal of the study is to examine the attitudes of the undergraduate students at the Marmara University toward social gender roles with multivariate analysis techniques. The population of the research is constituted by the undergraduate students at the Marmara University. The “Attitude Scale concerning Social Gender Roles” whose validity and reliability have been proven in the literature shall be used in the scope of the study. The survey was applied to a sample consisted of 3404 unit designed with the Stratified Sampling technique. The gathered data have been analyzed with various statistical techniques especially including logistic regression and two-stage clustering analysis and the findings were comparatively interpreted. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the attitudes of the students toward social gender roles vary depending especially on gender and also on variables such as marital status, class, faculty, family type, parents’ educational level and number of brothers in terms of customs and equalitarian. In addition, the students have been classified as male students, conventional female students and equalitarian male students.
