Artificial intelligence technologies have the potential to create revolutionary transformations in the field of education as in every field. Research on how to integrate artificial intelligence with learning processes, the effects of which will be felt both in traditional face-to-face education and distance education, will be important for teachers and students to be more ready for this transformation. In this article, it is aimed to examine the role of artificial intelligence interaction features in distance education interaction types and in this context, interaction design in AI-supported distance education. In the study, firstly, artificial intelligence interaction features (Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Chat Bots, Image and Voice Recognition, Data Analysis and Decision Making, Advanced Personalisation and Content Generation) are introduced and then it is discussed how student-student, student-teacher, student-content and student-interface interactions in distance education can be integrated with these artificial intelligence supported features. As a result, design proposals are presented that can transform the interactions in distance education into a more dynamic, effective and personalised form with artificial intelligence interaction features, thus reducing the workload of teachers and providing students with much richer and more advanced interaction processes. Successful integration of these technologies can increase students' motivation and engagement, make the learning process more efficient and increase academic achievement. In the future, further research examining the effectiveness and efficiency of AI-supported interaction design will pave the way for more successful and satisfying learning experiences in distance education.
