The ratio of the women members of municipal councils is important for revealing the role of women in local political decision making and this is also accepted as an indicator of gender equality. This indicator has also been handled by the United Nations and “Gender Equality” goal was included into the “Sustainable Development Goals” which was determined in 2015. The ratio of women members of the local councils was ranked as a sub-goal of “Gender Equality”. Although this ratio is an important indicator of the level of the contribution of women in local decision making, it does not explain the quality of this contribution. The issues to be discussed and resolved by the municipal councils are first discussed in the expertise commissions before. The expertise commissions have an impact on the council decisions by discussing and reporting the issues which are referred to them. Therefore, while evaluating the role of the woman in local decision making, the level of participation in the expertise commissions will be examined with the quantity of the women members in the municipal councils. In this context, the study focuses on the number and ratio of the woman members in the expertise commissions established within the municipal councils. Within the scope of the study, the number and ratio of the woman members in the mandatorily established expertise commissions of the municipal councils of Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (NUTS) Level 2 will be determined. The aim of the study is to reveal the ratio of women’s participation in local decisions together with the quality of this participation.
2022-02-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Holistence Publications https://journals.gen.tr/jos/article/view/1675 Analysis of the globalization relationship with foreign trade in context Turkey's foreign trade and KOF index of globalization 2021-12-07T11:50:16+00:00 Çetin Polat cetinp@anadolu.edu.tr Kadir Özgür Peker opeker@eskisehir.edu.tr
The needs are constantly increasing and diversifying depend on the population growth and technological developments. Countries whose national resources are insufficient to meet these needs import by turning to foreign resources. In addition, countries also export to ensure their growth and development and to increase the welfare of the country. In fact, they are able to produce and sell under more favorable conditions by realizing their production in different countries through direct foreign capital investments. All these activities bring countries closer together economically, politically, socially and culturally with the effect of their technological developments. This process actually refers to globalization defined differently with various approaches. Foreign trade has contributed significantly to the development and spread of globalization, and at the same time, globalization has also contributed to foreign trade to operate more easily and effectively. In short, foreign trade and globalization contribute to each other's development in an interaction. This interaction in this study were analyzed using Turkey's foreign trade and the KOF Index of Globalization values, and "Simple and Multiple Correlation" and "Simple Linear and Binary Polynomial Regression" analyzes were performed. As a result of the analysis, it was determined that there is a significant and high interaction between globalization and foreign trade.
2022-02-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Holistence Publications https://journals.gen.tr/jos/article/view/1718 The effects of international trade in services on current account balance and economic growth: The case of Turkey 2022-02-07T12:42:26+00:00 Selim İnançlı sinancli@sakarya.edu.tr Mustafa Torusdağ mustafatorusdag@yyu.edu.tr
In the last 30 years, with the rapid developments in information, production and communication technologies, the share of goods and services in world trade has been constantly increasing. Important developments have been achieved in international service areas such as tourism, construction and contracting services and transportation in turkey. Turkey's international services trade revenues positively affect the current account balance and economic growth. In this study, the relationship between the current account balance and economic growth of international service trade in turkey was analyzed using annual data covering the period 1990-2020. For this, ADF (1970) and DF-GLS unit root tests, Bayer-Hanck cointegration test and Fourier Toda-Yamamoto causality tests were applied. According to the causality analysis findings, it was concluded that there is a one-way causality relationship from growth to services trade and a two-way causality relationship between current account deficit and services trade.
2022-02-16T00:00:00+00:00 Copyright (c) 2022 Holistence Publications
