The number of theoretical and empirical studies on AI-based HR applications in the context of post-modern human resources management (HRM) is increasing day by day. However, the number of studies examining AI-based HR applications in a holistic manner is still quite insufficient in Turkish literature. This study aims to address HR applications based on “machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, robotics and autonomous systems, speech recognition and generation, knowledge representation and reasoning, data mining and big data analytics, artificial neural networks and deep neural networks”, which are the main sub-study topics of AI. The findings of recently published AI-themed HR research were examined through document analysis and descriptive analysis, and an evaluation was made in the context of the main sub-study topics of AI.The study findings show that AI-based HR applications are developed in a promising way for businesses. However, it is expected that new AI-based HR applications that will be developed by increasing the collaboration between AI and HR experts will produce more effective results for businesses.
2025-02-17T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Holistence Publicationshttps://journals.gen.tr/index.php/jos/article/view/2660Assessment of mortality in intensive care: A critical look at risk factors and care practices2025-01-18T13:15:54+03:00Burak Sayarbsayar@beu.edu.trCihat Özyılmazcihat.ozyilmaz@windowslive.comEmine Kübra Dindare.kubradindar@hotmail.comSelim Kuşluselimkuslu@akdeniz.edu.trFatma Taş Çiftçibaşıfatma.tascifcibasi@saglik.gov.tr
Objective: This study aims to evaluate mortality rates in critical care units, to determine risk factors affecting these rates, and to develop strategies to reduce mortality.
Method: This study, planned as a retrospective and cross-sectional study, included 124 patients treated in the general critical care units of a group B state hospital in 2020. The data collection process used the Hospital Information System, and patient demographics, diagnoses, and causes of death were analyzed. The data collected within the scope of the study were analyzed using descriptive statistical methods (frequency, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, etc.), as well as the Independent Samples T test for comparing two group means, and the F test (Anova) for comparing more than two group means. While Anova was used for studies with more than two groups, the Tukey Test was used in those that provided the assumption of homogeneity to determine which group was different from the others.
Results: In the study, 51.6% of patients were male, 35.5% were aged 65-74, 48.4% lived in city centers, 85.5% were inpatients, 54.8% were general critical care patients, 14.5% were post-CPR, and 51.6% died from cardiopulmonary arrest. Mortality rates varied by age, critical care type, length of stay, and clinical features. Cardiopulmonary arrest had the highest mortality rate. Mortality increased with longer critical care stays.
Conclusion: Mortality in critical care units is influenced by multiple factors. To reduce rates, infections should be prevented, patient care quality improved, and multidisciplinary approaches adopted.
2025-02-13T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Holistence Publicationshttps://journals.gen.tr/index.php/jos/article/view/2701A look at working life problems in the context of industrial social work2025-02-03T11:55:14+03:00Dürdane Çetindurdane.cetin@iuc.edu.tr
“Work”, one of the fundamental human rights, has various problems in terms of accessibility and sustainability today. Low standards and rights violations in working life directly affect the psychosocial well-being of individuals and negatively affect the general welfare level. The fact that problems related to working life gain different dimensions in industrializing societies increases the need for social service interventions. In this context, industrial social service practices developed in order to cope with the problems of working life that arise in industrializing societies constitute the main focus of this study. The purpose of the research is to address current problems related to working life and to evaluate industrial social service interventions for these problems. In the literature, it is seen that the research conducted in the context of social service on working life is limited and especially in our country, industrial social service has not yet gained a wide place in the literature. In this compilation study based on the literature review method, current problems in working life and industrial social service interventions are evaluated. As a result, it is seen that well-being in working life directly affects social welfare and industrial social service practices play an important role in combating the problems in this area. However, it is suggested that these practices are not yet sufficiently developed in Turkey and that public, private sector and civil society organizations should act in cooperation in order to create an effective model. In this context, strengthening industrial social services will contribute to the creation of a more sustainable and inclusive well-being in working life.
2025-02-13T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Holistence Publicationshttps://journals.gen.tr/index.php/jos/article/view/2706Potential effects of reduced working hours on recreation2025-02-11T15:57:18+03:00Merve Nur Çağlayanmervecaglayan@isparta.edu.trAkyay Uygurakyay.uygur@hbv.edu.tr
This study aims to examine the potential effects of a four-day workweek on individuals' recreational behaviors. By addressing the contributions of leisure management to individual and societal well-being, the study evaluates the increased availability of free time in its physical, mental, and social dimensions. Conducted through a literature review, the research highlights the positive impacts of reduced working hours on quality of life, work-life balance, and social connections. The transition to a four-day workweek promotes greater participation in leisure and recreational activities, contributing to mental health and work-life balance. However, the extent to which individuals benefit from this increased free time is influenced by personal preferences, the accessibility of recreational opportunities, and societal norms. Additionally, the study emphasizes the importance of individuals' awareness and competencies in effectively utilizing this additional free time. By shedding light on the opportunities and challenges that increased leisure time may create on both individual and societal levels, this study seeks to contribute to the development of more sustainable working arrangements.
2025-02-19T00:00:00+03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Holistence Publications
