Q1. What is the name of your journal and what areas does it cover?
The name of our journal is Journal of Original Studies (J. Orig. Stud.). It publishes original, theoretical, and applied research across multiple disciplines including social sciences, natural sciences, education, engineering, health sciences, and art studies.
Q2. In which languages do you accept manuscripts?
Manuscripts are accepted in both English and Turkish.
Q3. What is your publication model?
The journal follows a continuous publication model — articles are published online immediately after acceptance without waiting for an entire issue to be completed.
2. Article Submission and Fees
Q4. Is there a submission deadline?
No. Manuscripts are accepted continuously throughout the year. Deadlines may apply for special issues and will be announced on the “Announcements” page.
Q5. Do you charge submission or publication fees?
The Journal of Original Studies does not charge a submission fee. However, an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 50 USD is applied after acceptance to cover production, DOI, and archiving costs. For the year 2025, no APC will be charged for English research articles.
Q6. What is the copyright and licensing policy?
Authors retain copyright of their manuscripts. All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license, allowing sharing, adaptation, and distribution with proper citation.
3. Review Process
Q7. How does the review process work?
The journal employs a double-blind peer-review system in which both author and reviewer identities are concealed throughout the process.
The review process generally follows these steps:
- Initial editorial screening by the Editor-in-Chief (scope, format, plagiarism, originality).
- Assignment to the relevant Section Editor.
- Manuscript is sent to at least two independent reviewers.
- Decision based on reviewers’ reports.
- Author revision process (minor revision: 3 weeks; major revision: 8 weeks).
- Final approval and preparation for publication.
Q8. What is the average decision time?
The average peer-review process takes approximately 30 days. Revision periods are 21 days for minor and 60 days for major revisions. These durations are indicative and may vary based on circumstances.
Q9. Can authors appeal a decision?
Yes. Authors may appeal editorial decisions by submitting a written justification to the Editor-in-Chief, especially in cases of perceived misinterpretation or oversight.
4. Information for Authors
Q10. What should authors pay attention to in the Author Guidelines?
- Article format, structure, and reference style (APA 7 recommended).
- Accepted file formats: MS Word or PDF.
- Ethical statements regarding originality, ethical approval (if required), and conflict of interest declaration.
- All manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using iThenticate.
- Regardless of language, each manuscript must include an English title, abstract, and keywords.

Authors may share supporting data, materials, or codes or state that they are “available upon request from the author.”
Q12. What happens after acceptance?
Accepted manuscripts are professionally typeset. A galley proof is sent to the corresponding author for final review. Only typographical or layout corrections are permitted at this stage; major content changes are not allowed.

Under the continuous publication model, accepted manuscripts are published online immediately after approval.

The Journal of Original Studies is a Gold Open Access journal — all published articles are freely and permanently accessible to readers worldwide.

- Each article is assigned a unique DOI (Digital Object Identifier).

6. Ethical Principles and Policy

The Journal of Original Studies adheres to international publication ethics and integrity standards, including:
